NEWS FLASH from DGL!
An Interview with the Webmaster of DGL Online

An Important Message Regarding DGL!

URGENT message from Mrs. Terre Ritchie, Executive Producer of Down Gilead Lane

Have you ever started building something, and then had to stop because it was not going together like you had hoped or planned? That’s where we are right now with our radio drama, Down Gilead Lane. Due to feedback from our stations and listeners we are making some drastic changes.

Our plan was to tell the story of Joseph, from the scriptures, through the story of the Morrison’s on DGL. Somehow, in the process of writing and production, this story became lost. We all were caught up in the drama and not doing what God would honor by checking the story against His Scriptures and our mission statement. That is going to change.

***We have stopped all airing of Season Seven***

We will be posting reruns up for a while as we regroup, rethink and regain our mission statement which says we ‘produce and distribute excellent media resources to evangelize and disciple kids and their families.’ THAT is where we want to be.

Today, I will spotlight an interview that I did with AIOandDGLFan from the CBH Forums, webmaster of DGL Online.

What is your real name?

My real name is Michael Hettick. I go by EugeneFan on most places on the internet, but I chose the name AIOandDGLFan at the CBH boards, because Eugene has nothing to do with DGL.

What state and country do you live in?

I live in Texas, U.S.A.

How did you pick your site name?

When I first began working on my DGL site, I had planned to call it "The Online Guide to DGL". After I thought about it, I realized that name would be too long to remember, so I shortened it to "DGL Online".

How long have you been listening to DGL?

I have only been listening to DGL for about a year and a half. I listened to the first episode, "Meet the Morrisons" on the Official DGL Site, and I was interested enough to buy the first three albums. I enjoyed the episodes in those albums, and I have been hooked on the show ever since.

Do you ever get bored with updating your website?

Sometimes I will feel tired of updating for a while, but those times don't usually last long. I think all the work I do is worth it when I read the positive comments guests send me about my site.

What made you decide to make a DGL fan site?

When I first started my site, there were no DGL fan sites at all. I thought the show was worthy of a fan site, so I created one myself. Since then, other fan sites have been created, but I still enjoy keeping my site open.

What would you rate A Balm in Gilead on a 1-10 scale?

I give your site an 8/10. I like what you have on it, and I look forward to seeing what you have planned next!

Did any sites influence your site and how it's designed?

The site that influences me the most was http://. I think it has everything a fan site should - constant updates, an episode guide, reviews, and exclusive news.

What is your favorite DGL Episode (Seasons 1-6)?

This is a hard question for me to answer. I suppose my favorite episodes are "The Beginning of the End"/"The End of the Beginning". I enjoyed the Grace saga, and I was pleased with the way it was wrapped up in this two-parter.

What is your Favorite Season (Seasons 1-6)?

My favorite season is season 4. I enjoy the dramatic and suspenseful episodes, and season 4 brought me this. As I said in the previous question, I was pleased with the way the writers handled the story of Grace's accident.

How would you rate DGL vs. AIO?

I'm not meaning to put DGL down - I think it's a great show, but I would have to say AIO is a better show than DGL. This is only because AIO has been going for a longer period of time, so its writers are more experienced.

How do you think DGL fansites compare to AIO fansites?

I am pleased with the fact that there are countless fan sites dedicated to AIO. I wish there were more DGL fan sites. I'm glad that a few are beginning to get started!

Have you ever made any other fansites for anything? If so, what are they?

Yes, I also have an AIO fansite. It is called Eugene Forever.

Do you have any other comments?

Keep up the good work with your fan site!
